On February 20, the college held the 2024 Annual Student Party Branch Secretary Work Reporting Conference. Party Secretary Wang Qingwen, Party Deputy Secretary Ye Jianying, and the instructors of each branch attended the meeting and served as reviewers. The meeting was hosted by part-time counselor Zhuang Daiqian.
The report session followed a live + written dual mode, with the 10 student Party branches of the college (4 undergraduate branches and 6 graduate branches) sequentially presenting their annual work. The branch secretaries and deputy secretaries shared cases, displayed results, and analyzed issues, systematically summarizing the experience in Party building and jointly exploring innovative development paths.
Party member education became the core focus of each branch's work. The Journalism undergraduate Party branch proposed a trial Pioneer Index evaluation mechanism to strengthen responsibility awareness by quantifying the performance of Party members. The Graduate Party branch of the Communication Institute developed a four-dimensional learning system combining invited lectures + thematic discussions + Party lessons + independent study and introduced innovative management models, such as remote participation and regular one-on-one conversations, significantly enhancing member participation.
The integration of Party building with academic work achieved remarkable results. The Graduate Party branch of the Social Thought Institute deeply integrated Party building with academic research, organizing red practice research trips to Susong in Anhui and Huangmei in Hubei, and writing an academic paper titled Exploring the Path of Integration Between Red Culture Inheritance and Rural Revitalization. Members of the Graduate Party branch of the Communication Institute deepened their understanding of Party history theories in papers such as The Communist Party of China’s Relief Practices During the Central Soviet Area Period, achieving mutual promotion between Party building and academic pursuits.
Social responsibility and the inheritance of red genes were central to the branch activities. The Graduate Party branch of the Journalism Institute led the Retracing the Journey of Qiao Ping project, conducting research on the former residence of Qiao Ping in Jinhua and contributing to the construction of the Qiao Ping Museum at the college, delving into Zhejiang University's role in the Chinese Communist Party’s red spirit narrative. The undergraduate Party branch of the Communication Institute, leveraging its professional features, held a Party discipline education themed Party Day in Jiangcun Street and combined theoretical study with cultural experience through a Quzhou Tour research activity. The Graduate Party branch of the Aesthetics Institute paired with the Danqing Academy branch for mutual development, promoting both Party and youth league building through Party leadership.
Building distinctive brands became an important breakthrough for innovative practice. The undergraduate Party branch of the Communication Institute's volunteer service project Guarding the 'Ageless' Face with a Camera was approved for SQTP, leveraging professional strengths to promote public welfare. The Graduate Party branch of the Chinese International Education program launched the World Youth Talk brand event, promoting Sino-foreign youth exchange through Chinese corners and cross-cultural training camps and telling the story of China. The undergraduate Party branch of Journalism created dual brands, Navigators Program and Great Teacher Oral History, establishing a new service-oriented Party branch model. The undergraduate Party branch of Future Communication plans to launch the brand activity AI Lights Up Dreams, showcasing the innovative practice value and social responsibility of the Party organization.
In his summary, Wang Qingwen set a clear direction for the development of the branches. He fully recognized the effectiveness of the branches' work, characterized by key focus, fruitful results, and mutual integration, and proposed three requirements: first, strengthen the ability to transform theory into practice, extending learning outcomes to academic innovation and social service; second, enhance organizational regularity and implement incentive mechanisms like the Pioneer Index; and third, deepen the development of One Branch, One Brand, promoting the long-term development of brands in line with disciplinary advantages.
In the past year, under the leadership of the Party Committee, the student Party branches of the college have built a foundation through theoretical learning, empowered through practical experience, and broken through with brand innovation, demonstrating the sense of responsibility and commitment of the youth Party members in the new era. Moving forward, the branches will continue to unite and build a team with ideals, responsibility, a willingness to work hard, and the ability to fight, injecting new vitality into the college's Party building efforts.
