Recently, the Sixth Staff Representatives Assembly and the Fourth Union Members Representatives Assembly of our college were grandly convened. The purpose of this meeting was to review and summarize the college's work in 2024 and to discuss the future development of the college. The college leadership, faculty and staff representatives, union members, and student representatives attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by the Vice Party Secretary, Ye Jianying.

Party Secretary Wang Qingwen first delivered a work summary report for 2024, comprehensively reviewing the significant achievements made by the college over the past year in areas such as Party building, cultivating virtue, talent development, and scientific research innovation. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to all faculty, staff, and students for their hard work. The college has adhered to Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as its fundamental guide and fully implemented the spirit of the 20th Central Committee's third plenary session, the National Education Conference, and the deployment of the 15th Party Congress of the university. This has further strengthened the mission-driven approach and promoted the in-depth development of various college activities. Wang Qingwen expressed his hope that in the coming year, everyone will continue to unite, collaborate, and work diligently to achieve even greater success.

Executive Vice Dean Fang Xingdong presented the key work priorities for 2025. From a broad perspective of the college's development, he emphasized that the coming year would focus on two major directions: internationalization and intelligence. Fang Xingdong noted that the discipline of communication is at a critical transitional phase, with old paradigms needing urgent reform and new ones not fully formed. The overall influence and societal demand for this field are declining. However, crises often give rise to transformative opportunities. The importance of communication disciplines in the social arena has reached a new historical height. With the arrival of a deeply mediated era, the college should lead with innovation, leverage technology, and focus on intelligent and international communication as two key drivers, aiming for a leap in development from media convergence to deep convergence, and then to intelligent convergence.

Vice Dean Zhao Yu presented a report on the college's research work in 2024, pointing out that the college has made breakthrough progress in areas such as research project applications, outcomes, and team building. He further stated that the next focus of the college's research work will be on promoting disciplinary achievements, organized research exploration, major achievement condensation, and individual research career management.

Vice Dean Zhao Yupei delivered a report on the college's undergraduate teaching work in 2024, highlighting the significant achievements and future plans in enhancing teaching quality, optimizing course offerings, and cultivating students' innovation capabilities. She also shared strategies related to undergraduate education and internationalization efforts. In talent development, particularly for students in the top-tier international communication research-oriented program, she stated that the college would focus on improving the quality and quantity of research outcomes, strengthening faculty-student interaction, and increasing student participation in research. Additionally, academic elective courses and research training projects would be added to meet the needs of students interested in pursuing research careers. Plans to launch initiatives like the Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Overseas Training Camp and Asian Civilizations Week will also be set to promote international exchange and cooperation.

Assistant Dean Li Siyue delivered a report on the college's educational work in 2024, emphasizing highlights in education reform, teaching quality assurance, and the improvement of students' overall qualities. Specific measures included continuously optimizing recruitment structures, improving the recommendation process, enhancing international and interdisciplinary graduate training, and improving the quality of doctoral theses. Looking ahead to 2025, Li Siyue indicated that the college would focus on implementing a long-cycle training model that connects undergraduate and doctoral programs, tailoring personalized training and research plans for students. Additionally, the college will strengthen its professional focus on international communication, aiming to cultivate a strong group of future international communicators.

Wang Qingwen then presented the college's financial report for 2024, providing a detailed overview of the financial income and expenditure situation, ensuring transparency and compliance in fund usage. Zhang Liping, the head of the finance review group, reported on the financial review, confirming that the college's financial reports met the required standards after rigorous review by the auditing group.

Department Chair Zhang Yan, Deputy Director of the Communication Research Institute Wu Yun, and Deputy Director of the Digital Communication Research Center Wu Hongyu gave detailed reports on the work, financial status, and future plans for their respective departments and centers in 2024, demonstrating significant progress and fruitful results in disciplines, research innovation, and social service.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a special First Quarter Collective Birthday Party was held for faculty and staff who recently celebrated their birthdays. Awards were also presented to teachers who celebrated their 10th, 20th, 30th, and 40th work anniversaries.

The Dual Assembly took place during a key stage of the colleges efforts to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th Party Congress and the National Two Sessions, and to fully implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions for Zhejiang University. The successful conclusion of the meeting not only unified thought, consolidated strength, and boosted morale, but also laid a solid foundation for the college's future development.
