In a joint effort to respond to President Xi Jinping’s call for “cultivating high-caliber journalism and communication professionals,” the undergraduate Communication Party Branch and graduate Broadcasting Party Branch recently organized a themed Party Day event titled “Capturing Ageless Beauty with Cameras.” The event combined professional expertise with academic knowledge to promote social responsibility and humanistic care, embodying the volunteer spirit and the commitment of CPC members in the new era.
The event took place at the Sunshine Senior Citizen Center in Zongguantang Community, where nine Party members and nine elderly residents participated in a photography portrait service. The seniors arrived prepared: some styled their hair with care, while others selected bright red scarves to complement their radiant smiles. Party members guided the seniors on how to pose naturally and confidently while engaging them in heartfelt conversations. With their professional skills, the volunteers used their cameras to capture the elegance and grace of the elderly, accumulated through the years. Laughter and warmth filled the room as the moments were documented.
Reflecting on the experience, Party member Qian Yihan said, “What touched me most about this activity was the warmth. The afternoon sunlight was lovely, and the smiles of the elderly were so comforting. Every click of the camera didn’t just capture their kind smiles—it froze stories shaped by time. Knowing that a small effort on our part could bring them such meaningful memories makes volunteer work feel incredibly fulfilling.”
The activity offered Party members a hands-on opportunity to embody the values of “dedication, friendship, mutual support, and progress,” fostering their capacity and awareness for community service. It also deepened their commitment to their social responsibilities and mission as journalism and communication professionals, playing an active role in advancing socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
